TASS launches new composite repair program

The goal of the program is to streamline composite repair of the Boeing 787 by using an FEM package to simulate the repair. This thermal simulation will predict the optimum location of heat blankets and insulation, removing the need for a physical thermal survey. In the upcoming year we will launch activity into using these FEM models to analyze the damage tolerance of the repair.

TASS received AMOC approval from the FAA.

In February 2009, TASS received AMOC approval from the FAA to the Boeing 757 scribe line AD (2007-19-07) for altered inspection methods and compliance times on 757-200 passenger aircraft modified to freighters by Precision Conversions LLC. The TASS AMOC provided alternate inspection methods (since the STC modification prevented the standard Boeing Service Bulletin NDI from being performed) along with increased inspection thresholds and repeat intervals over the Boeing Service Bulletin. This solution not only provided Precision Conversions' operators with a method for complying with the AD, but also with a less restrictive inspection schedule.
